Discord is used by over 200 million people every month for many different reasons, but there’s one thing that nearly everyone does on our platform: play video games. Over 90% of our users play games, spending a combined 1.5 billion hours playing thousands of unique titles on Discord each month. Discord plays a uniquely important role in the future of gaming. We are focused on making it easier and more fun for people to talk and hang out before, during, and after playing games. Reporting to the VP of Public Affairs, you will help lead product storytelling that introduces people all over the world to Discord. We’re looking for an experienced communications pro to develop and execute strategies that tell our product story across consumer and industry audiences. We have inspiring stories to tell – everything from new features to player stories, to what makes Discord unique, to how we’re fueling the gaming industry for developers. Working with a diverse group of cross-functional stakeholders, you’ll play a big role in helping us build comprehension for how Discord uniquely sits at the intersection of connection and play. This is also a very exciting opportunity to build out the Product Comms function -- you will help shape the vision and strategy of this work while also hiring, onboarding, and managing the team carrying it out. What You'll Be Doing Develop the product communications strategy and drive comprehensive tactics that reach a wide-variety of external stakeholders across earned and owned channels Hire and develop a team of communications professionals responsible for executing a proactive communications strategy across the full range of Discord product and business teams Develop, write, and secure high impact earned stories to amplify our product news and milestones Build and cultivate relationships with relevant media and industry influencers within the consumer tech and gaming spaces Collaborate with internal partners on plans and positioning to shape product
