About the team/role We're hiring a Director, Assistant Controller to help build the accounting function Checkr needs for its next chapter. Reporting to the Controller, you'll inherit a talented team of 10 and own the corporate accounting— close, financial reporting, and technical accounting — partnering closely with FP&S, Tax, Corp Dev, and Legal. We need someone who has seen what "great" looks like at a public company and can bring those standards here — tightening our close process, leveling up our technical accounting bench and putting the controls and documentation in place that will hold up to external scrutiny. What you’ll do Lead and develop a high-performing team across GL accounting, treasury, and technical accounting. Design, implement and maintain appropriate accounting policies and processes to enable accurate and timely financial reporting in compliance with US GAAP. Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close, driving timeline reductions and establishing the controls and reconciliation standards expected of a public company. Serve as the in-house US GAAP technical accounting expert. Partner with Corp Eng on ERP (Oracle Fusion) optimization and automation across the accounting tech stack. Lead the external audit, partnering with the external auditor to ensure timely completion of annual audit. Partner with corporate development to support M&A activities.
