## Summary
Menlo Security is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our growing development team. In this role, you'll design, build, and operate Menlo services, working closely with product, security, and operations partners to ship reliable, high-performing systems. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience building software in a cloud computing environment and is comfortable owning a feature from design through production. The team uses AI-assisted development tools — including AI pair-programming assistants and AI-assisted code review — as a standard part of the engineering workflow, and you'll be expected to use them to work faster and more effectively.

• Reliable, on-time delivery of new features and services that scale with Menlo's distributed platform.
• Sustained reliability and performance of the services this role owns or contributes to.
Success Metrics / KPIs:
• On-time delivery of committed features/services against sprint and quarterly roadmap commitments
• Uptime/availability of owned services (e.g., 99.9%+)
• Reduction in P1/P2 production incidents tied to owned services
• Code review turnaround time and PR cycle time
• Mean time to resolution (MTTR) for production issues in owned systems
## What You'll Do
• Design, develop, and own new features and services that are key contributors to Menlo's technical roadmap
• Evaluate and implement development and deployment technologies for API design, highly available and scalable distributed systems, and multithreaded/asynchronous applications with performance and security in mind
• Build, deploy, and operate core components of the Menlo Security platform
• Use AI pair-programming and AI-assisted code-review tools to accelerate implementation, generate tests, and speed up review cycles
• Apply AI-assisted debugging tooling to diagnose issues in distributed systems more quickly
• Partner with product, security, operations, and other cross-functional stakeholders to align on requirements and schedules
## Functional Competencies
Required:
• 3-4 years of experience in cloud computing or related technical fields, with hands-on backend development in one or more languages such as Python, Go, C++, or Node.js
• Solid experience with Linux and networking technologies
• Experience with core AWS services (e.g., EC2, S3, VPC) or GCP and standard software development tooling (e.g., Git, Jira, Confluence, Jenkins)
• Experience with complex data structures, databases, and analytics technologies (e.g., Redis, Postgres, MySQL, Druid)
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with high attention to detail and documentation
• Self-directed and motivated to learn new technologies with minimal guidance
• BE/ B.Tech or Master's degree required
Preferred / Nice to Have:
• Experience with Linux boot processes, service monitoring, and networking internals (e.g., Tornado, C/C++, Go, systemd, Monit, Bash, cgroups/runc/libcontainer, Docker)
• Experience adapting and improving engineering best practices such as test-driven development, continuous delivery, and scrum/automation practices
• Comfortable incorporating AI-assisted coding tools (e.g., AI pair-programming assistants, AI code-review tools) into a modern development workflow
