Payroll Specialist II

Role & Responsibilities
- Process end-to-end payroll for assigned countries within APAC and/or EMEA under the guidance of senior payroll staff, ensuring accuracy and on-time delivery.
- Prepare and validate payroll inputs, including new hires, terminations, compensation changes, and timekeeping data, prior to each pay cycle.
- Respond to routine employee payroll and tax inquiries, escalating complex or ambiguous issues to senior payroll team members.
- Maintain accurate payroll records and supporting documentation to support compliance and audit readiness.
- Assist with payroll reconciliations and variance analysis, flagging discrepancies to senior staff for review.
- Support statutory reporting and filings (e.g., PF, ESI, PT, and TDS in India; equivalent filings in other active countries) by preparing underlying data and documentation.
- Coordinate day-to-day activity with external payroll vendors, tracking open items and flagging service issues to senior staff.
- Partner with HR and Finance to process new hires, terminations, compensation changes, and variable compensation payments accurately and on time.
- Assist with payroll liability reconciliations and support month-end close activities.
- Support internal and external audits by gathering and organizing requested documentation and records.
- Identify and escalate potential compliance risks to senior payroll staff or management.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of payroll processing experience, ideally in a multinational or shared-services environment.
- Working knowledge of payroll compliance requirements for at least one region (APAC or EMEA); exposure to India statutory requirements (PF, ESI, PT, TDS) is a plus.
- Intermediate Excel skills, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and basic reconciliations.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills; comfortable managing recurring deadlines.
- Ability to handle confidential employee data with discretion.
- Clear written and verbal communication; fluency in English required.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- Experience with Workday payroll and HRIS integrations preferred.
