Generate the Project

Go to start.spring.io (or in IntelliJ: New Project → Spring Boot; in VS Code: Spring Initializr: Create a Maven Project) and choose:

Option	ShopEase value
Project	Maven
Language	Java
Spring Boot	latest stable 3.x (3.5.x), not a SNAPSHOT/M/RC version
Group	`com.shopease`
Artifact	`shopease`
Package name	`com.shopease`
Packaging	Jar
Java	21 (or 17)
Dependencies	Spring Web, Spring Boot DevTools

Click Generate, unzip, and open the folder in your IDE. The IDE downloads the dependencies the first time (a few minutes on a slow connection).
