Create a Maven Project

Why Maven

Maven is a build tool. You list the libraries you need (Selenium, TestNG) in a file called pom.xml, and Maven downloads them and their dependencies from Maven Central. No manual jar copying.

  1. IntelliJ: File → New → Project → Maven Archetype (or "Java" with build system Maven).
  2. GroupId: com.shopease, ArtifactId: shopease-tests.
  3. JDK: 21. Click Create.

Project Structure

shopease-tests/
 ├── pom.xml <- dependencies and build settings
 └── src/
├── main/java/ <- helper code (page objects later)
     └── test/java/ <- your test classes
         └── com/shopease/tests/
             └── FirstTest.java

Tip: Test code goes in src/test/java. Maven runs tests from there with mvn test.
